What is Twitter?

Twitter is a free micro-blogging network that lets you discover what is happening in real time. For more information on Twitter, visit www.twitter.com

Who is the France Consular Twitter channel for?

If you are a British National resident or travelling in France, or if you are planning to travel to France, then you may be interested in our Twitter channel. And during travel disruptions that may affect British Nationals or emergency situations that may involve British Nationals in France, our Twitter channel will be updated as soon as we have new information.

How often is our Twitter channel updated?

We update our Twitter channel as often as necessary. In a developing situation, we will update Twitter as soon as we have relevant information. In other periods, look for regular updates and more general information.

What sort of information do we publish?

We publish information for British Nationals in France. That can mean updates to our Travel Advice, information about passport applications in Paris, changes in French regulations that impact on British Nationals, urgent information regarding emergency situations and other information of interest to you. If we do not have the expertise to give you all the information you may need, we will aim to signpost you to the people who do have that information. Please note that some websites we link to may be in French.

Can you rely on the information on our Twitter channel?

Every care is taken to ensure that the information we provide is correct. However, because we try to update as quickly as possible, and rely on various sources which are also updating in real time, neither Her Majesty’s Government nor the British Embassy Paris can guarantee the absence of errors. If you encounter a problem, then please do let us know.

If we link to a website, does that mean we are endorsing it?

We do not endorse, and cannot take responsibility for the content of external websites. We do make every effort to ensure that the links we provide are to reputable websites.

If you would like to provide feedback on our Twitter channel

We always welcome feedback. E-mail us at BritishinFrance@fco.gov.uk, and we will respond as soon as possible.

Alternatively, you can write to the Consulate: British Consulate-General, 16 rue d’Anjou, 75008 Paris. Please be aware that we are unable to deal with anything other than Twitter queries at this e-mail address.

For anything else, please go to our Consulates pages.
