Private screening of "The Age of Stupid" at the British Embassy, Paris (06/10/2009)

"The Age of Stupid" starring Pete Postlethwaite

"The Age of Stupid" is a powerful drama-documentary which stars Pete Postlethwaite as a man living in the devastated world of 2055, watching archive footage from 2008 and asking: why didn't we stop climate change when we had the chance?

The climate change team from the British Embassy Paris organised the screening of "The Age of Stupid" at the Ambassador's Residence in Paris on 1st of October. Sir Peter Westmacott welcomed around 100 guests working on climate change in the public, private and voluntary sectors.

A few comments at the end of the screening:

"I have worked on environmental matters for a long time but will now pursue my work with renewed vigour."

"It was a very interesting film... particularly the points about the timeline which illustrated things that people today have trouble believing."

"I will take the plane less often and look at how to reduce my carbon footprint."

"I found the message a bit alarmist but it was also a way to convince people for whom the problem of climate change isn't real."

"We need to look at the way we live our lives and change our methods of consumption."
