Commonwealth War Graves Commission ceremony at the Arc de Triomphe

Sir Peter Westmacott, the British Ambassador to France, laid a wreath at the Arc de Triomphe on Sunday 15th November. On the 3rd Sunday in November each year, members of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission-French Joint Committee are invited to take part in a wreath laying ceremony at the Arc de Triomphe honouring the dead from the Commonwealth countries and France during the Great war.

This year, in the presence of Sir Ian Garnett, former Chief of Joint Operations, Sir Peter Westmacott laid a wreath, rekindled the flame and signed the "Livre d'Or" of the Comité de la Flamme with French dignitaries at the Arc de Triomphe. Similar ceremonies also took place in Belgium, Germany, Italy, Japan and The Netherlands.

Sir Peter Westmacott welcomes Arsène Wenger at the Residence

October saw Arsène Wenger celebrate his 13 year long career as Arsenal manager which makes him the longest serving foreign manager in the English Premiership.

Sir Peter Westmacott, British Ambassador to France hosted a lunch on the 14th of October in his honour to pay tribute to his impressive achievements and his contribution to the "Entente cordiale" between the United Kingdom and France.
